N.Z. ARTIST’S DEATH AT LONDON (Per Press AssO'*iation) DUNEDIN, April 27. It is accepted here that the London cablegram refers to the death of James Fraser Scott, artist, aged 55. He was born at Dunedin, and educated at. Kaikorai School. He began his studies at the Dunedin School of Artwent to Paris, Antwerp and Brussels to study, then to Australia, where he enlisted. He was wounded at Passchendale while holding the rank of Lieutenant. He was appointed official artist to the Australian Government. He has thirty pictures in the Art Gallery at Sydney, and two in the Dunedin Gallery. Ho did thp frescoes, not only for the first. Wembley, but for the New Zealand Court at the second Wembley Exhibition. SCHOONER ARATAPU. WELLINGTON, April 27. The Secretary-General of the Post Office advised that messages have been received to-day from Papeete radio, 9.39 a.m., Aratapu arrived, Sunday 24th, all well. From Adelaide, radio, 12.4 a.m.:— Shipmasters are notified that the barque Hougomont was reported dismasted at 1 p.m., April 25, in Lat. 37.36 S., Long. 133.15 E., proceeding under small square sail on fore lower mast.
