Selectors Appointed (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON. April 27. Messrs McKenzie (Wairarapa) and A. McDonald (Otago) hav.‘ been appointed the selectors of the New Zealand Rugby team which is to tour Australia this year. For rhe inter-island match to be played at Christchurch o n June 3r*d, Mr McKenzie will select the North Island team, and Mr McDonald the South Island team. These appointments were made by the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union this evening. Mr S. Dean, who presided, said that the Golden Bay-Motueka L T nion had been advised of the decision of the Union to send a Maori team on a northern tour this year. The Union re. grettej that it was unable to send a team to the Seddon Shield Districts this season, but would consider doin£ so next year. An application was received from Rotorua Sub-Union for permission to secede from the Bay of Plenty Union and affiliate with the Waikato Union. Mr Dean said that, before the application could be considered, it was necessary to have the recommendation of the Bay of Plenty Union. Consideration would, therefore, have to be postponed.
