LIVE STOCK PRICES

Addington Sale (Special to 4 ‘Argus.’’) CHRISTCHURCH, April 27. Prices, except for a smaller beef entry, showed little improvement at to-day’s sale of live stock at Addington, which Messrs H. Matson and Co., review as follows:— The store lamb entry was smaller with a good sprinkling of forward sorts. Best lots met a firmer sale, but backward lots showed no advance. The store sheep were a much smaller entry, mostly small lots. All lots sold on a lower basis, chiefly through the feed shortage. Ther e was a large yarding of fat sheep,. a large proportion being plain lots. Values were generally easier. Extra heavy prime wethers sold to 20s Id, prime heavy 15s to 17s, prime nied’um 13s to 14 s 6d, plain Ils 6d to 12s 6d, light from 9s. Epctra prime heavy ewes sold to 14s lOd, prime heavy 10s 6d to 12s 6d, medium 8s to 10s, light 6d to 7s 6d, plain from 4s. There was a medium yarding of fat lambs the quality being mixed, with thc bulk comprising light sorts. Recent values were maintained. Extra heavy lambs sold at 21s. Id. prime 17s 6d to 19s 6d, medium 13s 6d to 17s. light from 10s. There was a much smaller yarding of beef, including a large line from the North Island. The balance of the offering comprised chiefly nondescript lots. All prime quality showed a good rise on recent sales. Other grades showed no appreciable change. Extra heavy bullocks sold to £l2 12s 6d, prime £8 15s to £9 15s, medium £5 to £6 7s 6d, light from £3 2s 6d. Best he fers sold to £8 17s 6d, prim e £5 5s to £7 ss. light from £4. Extra heavy cows sold to £B, pYime £5 to £6 ss, medium £3 5s to £4 2s 6d, plain from 255. Prime handyweight vealerg were firm. There was a medium yarding of fat pigs, the porkers selling better, and bacon at ]at e rates. Porkers sold 30s to 345, heavier 35s to 38s 6d; choppers £2 to £4 6s; baconers £2 to £2 5 S 6d, heavy £2 7s 6d to £2 15s 6d, extra heavy to £3. Store pigs were slightly •easier.
