PENSION CUT
BEFORE REDUCTIONS BECOME LAW. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, April 27. Although the pensions reductions contemplated by the Government have nof yet become law. as the B 11 in which they arc embodied is still before Parliament, the payments to the pensioners were made o n Saturday last on a lower basis, as if the new law were actually in operation. This question was raised by Mr Holland in th c House to-day. Air Forbes said that the Financial Adjustment Bill provided for pensions reductions as from April Ist. It would have been a greater hardship to pay out at the old rate and make a double deduction at the next pay-out. Air Langstone: You are breaking the law.
