BULLER ELECTORATE
BIG RIVER MAIL SERVICE. Mr 11. E. Holland, M.P., has received the fol'owing letter (24th Ap’ril, 1932) from the Postmaster-General- “In reference to your letter of the 16th ultimo, forwarding an application from Mr C. A. Howell and other residents of Big River for a mail service to that place: I beg to inform you that 1 have had inquiry made in the matter, and find that the cost of establishing at the present time even a once-weekly service would be out of all proportion to the revenue estimated to be derived. My Department would not be warranted in incurring especially under existing conditions, the comparatively heavy loss that would be involved. It is regretted, therefore, that the request cannot be granted at present. In the event of there being an appreciable increase, as anticipated, in the number of residents at Big River, the question of e: - tablishing a mail service can be reconsidered. In the meantime the present arrangements for the residents to jnce’v e and despatch mail privately appear to b-e satisfactory.” GRANITY SCHOOL. Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., has received the following letter (23rd April, 1932) from the Minister of Education: “I have much pleasure in informing you that I have approved a grant for the replacement of the girls’ out-offices at the Granity School.”
