MEMORIAL THEATRE AT BIRTHPLACE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 23. St. George’s Day, the feast of England’s Patron Saint, and the anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth, are beingcelebrated today throughout the country. Shakespeare’s birthplace, Strai;-ford-on-Avon, is the centre of the chief celebrations, and the pirturesque town was gaily decorated for the reception of representations of over 70 nations, who had come to do homage to Shakespeare’s memory. The Prince of Wales flew from Windsor to take part in th e ceremonies, which included the opening by His Royal Highness of the new Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, which has been erected on the banks of the Avon River. A luncheon, presided over by the Mayor of Stratford, and attended by representatives of all the leading nations of the world, preceded the ceremony at the theatre and to-night the first performance in the theatre will be given, when the first part of “Henry the Fourth” is being staged in the presence of the Prince.
