RUGBY LEAGUE

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Com mi t tec of the West Coast Rugby League was held last evening. Present: — Messi’s A. IL MeKane (President), Ik Hunter, W. Ryan, A. Anisy, W. Barlow. A. Fielding (Referees’ Delegate), J. Anisy, junr. (Treasurer;, and R. Harrington (Secretary). The reclassification from junior to third grade of J. Dowling (Pirates) was granted. The action of the Emergency Committee in granting the transfer of E. A. Lord from Marist to Pirates was approved subject to the former Club’s consent. A further letter was received from the Blackball Domain Board requesting the League’s assistance in the purchasing of material for the purpose of erecting a fence around the Blackball playing area. On the motion of Messrs Ryan and Barlow it was decided to donate £2 2s towards the cost of procuring the necessary material.

A letter was received from the Referees’ Association requesting tho League to erect a small dressing room at Wingham Park for the sole use of referees. It wa s decided, on the motion of the President and Mr 'Barlow to hold the matter over until finances permitted the erection of a suitable dressing room. The Wellington League wrote notify ing that Mr H. Corcoran had been elected its President and Mr P. B Hogan its Secretary. It was decided to hold over the eleet on of selectors for all grades until the nex? meeting of the Management Committee.

The Secretary was instructed to in form all clubs that all registrations and club balance-sheets must be forwarded as soon as possible.

The Grounds Committee was instructed to go into the matter of constructing a drain between the A and B grounds at Wingham Park. The Junior Advisory Board reported that owing to the Runanga sixth grade team winning the Schoolboys’ Cham pionship Shield outright, it would be necessary to procure another trophy for tho forthcoming season. Tho President offered personally to procur* the necessary trophy. Mr J. Masters (Chairman of the Junior Advisory Board) formally accepted the trophy and returned thanks M r MeKane for his handsome gift. Six referees’ reports were received as satisfactory. Twenty-six new players were admitted to the code. Accounts amounting to £lB 15s 9d' wem passed for payment. FIXTURES. The following is the draw for the week-end fixtures:— Senior.—-Brunner v. A meeting of the Referees’ Association of the West Coast Rugby League was held o n Saturday evening last, six members being present. Mr J. MeTaggart was elected President, Mr A. Fielding Secretary and Delegate to the Management Committee, and Messrs L. Hunter and A. Fielding selectors of referees for the forthcoming season. The Secretary was instructed to write all referees informing them of alterations to rules, etc. The meeting concluded with a general discussion on rules, with a view to ob taining uniformity of ruling by all referees.
