WAIMAK STRIKE

RELIEF MEN SOLID ('Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, March 30. The strike of the Waimakariri relief worker.s continues. So far only 35 men have offered for employment. Fearing reprisals, four policemen stood on guard at McLean’s Island camp during the night, but no attempt was made to molest the men in the huts. Despite this, the men spent an anxious night, and as a precautionary measure had pick handles within easy reach of the bunks. Two other policemen guarded the approaches to the camps.
