Cnrres pond ent.} WAI.UTA, March 16. Messrs K. Hawken and J. Gordon o. Wallsend, spent the weck-nml a.* guests at the Empire Hotel Miss Eileen Broderick of Wallsend, is spending a short holiday here. the conclusion of the Methodise ser\.?e on Sunday evening, the Bev. and Mrs T. W. Parsons were the recipients of presentations from the congregation, prior to their departure for England. Mr N. Murley in a neat speech, spoke of the many good qualities of the departing clergyman and his wife and in asking their acceptance of a handsome travelling rug and an Irish linen set, assured them that their good work v;ould not bo forgotten, and wished them a pleasant journey to th n Homeland. Mr J. A. McEwin endorseu the previous speakers 'remarks. Mr and Mrs Parsons both suitably replied. The. Greymouth Bowling Club visited here on Sunday and played the local Club, the visitors winning in the aggregate by five points. The visitors were suitably entertained by the members of the local Club, assisted by ft ladies’ committee, and spent an enjoyable day.
Moava Tennis Club played a friendly match with the Public Tennis Club on Sunday, the visitors winning by a .good nuargin. They were hospitably 1 entertained by the members of the local Club.
Waiuta defeated Reefton at Rceftc on Sundav in a one innings game I
3? runs, for the Foster Cup. Bartlett. O’ Doiinell and Douglas showed gomj form with the bat, while Bartlett was Ihe star bowler for the local side..
