BLOMFIELD MURDER
NEW DEVELOPMENT. AUCKLAND, March 16. In connection with the resumption, next week, of the inquest concerning ibe murder of Arthur James B!omliubl, a city chemist, on October 31 it is reported that a new development has occurred. It is understood that the police learned, by chance, of a young man who has told a story that, o u the night of the murder he was >n an hotel, when two men whom ho knew, -entered, asking for a drink. Both were agitated, and, in conversation, one allegedly said that they had settled Blomfield. Their story was that they had gone to town in a car, and one cal’-ed on Blomfield to arrange for an easier payment of a debt they owed. He returned to the ca v , and told h’s companion of Blomfield’s refusal to meet the request. It is alleged that, taking a spanner from under the seat, he declared that he would make Blomfield see reason, and returned to the shop.
