(Per Press Association'). TE KUITI, March 14. IJarly on Sunday morning. McLennan ’s chemist shop, and the Diamond Stores (grocery) were broken into, £5 being stolen from McLennan’s. The burglar had a meal of sardines and bis* cu : ts at the Diamond Stores where cigarettes and small goods were stolen. Attempts to break in at four other p’aces failed. BLENHEIM, March 14. John McKellar Richardson. 11, only son of H. M. W. Richardson, formerly Borough Engineer was drowned, while bathing in th? Taylor River, yesterday. PAKAPOO AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, March 13. As a sequel to the pakapoo raid, last night, Carr Chong, 36. a gardener appeared af the Pol’cr? Court this morning, and pleaded guilty, of keeping premises in Grey Avenue as a commo n gaming house. The police said that complaints had hee n neceived from a European one be ; ng that a man who marked a ticket and won £75 was pof paid. The police further alleged that fourteen banks we e drawn daily in Grey Avenue places. Chong was finted fifty pounds, or th’-ee months , imprisonment. Seven Europeans wore each fined £2 for being unlawfully on the pre-; nvsos. A charge against one man. who pleaded not guilty, was dismissed.
