The weekly Exchequer receipts, which were issued to-night, are again highly satisfactory. Last week’s revenue amounted to £33,700.000, and as the expenditure for the week was only eight millions, there was surplus on the week which totalled £25.700,000. This reduced the Budget deficit during the week from one hundred million pounds to seventy-four million three hundred thousand pounds. The deficit last year at the present date was ninety-eight millions. The income tax and surtax receipts continue to be satisfactory. The revised Budget contemplated a total from these sources of three hundred and forty-five million pounds, of which two hundred and sixty-five decimal three millions had been received up to Saturday. Thus seventy-nine decimal seven millions remain to be collected ! before the financial year ends on March 31st. whereas last year the amount outstanding at this date was one hundred and fifteen millions. Since January Ist the Exchequer has received one hundred and sixty-seven decimal three million pounds, as compared with one hundred and eleven decimal five millions for the corresponding period last year from these sources.
