Messrs A. .1. Fairmaid and W. H. Parfitt were appointed the Visiting Committee for the ensuing month. It was also stated that the remainder of the Board be included in this committee in order to look over the grounds during the recess.

At the conclusion of the meeting the chairman said this was the last meeting of the year, and extended to members the season’s greetings, also expressing the wish .that next year would be a better one in every way than the past year. The principal, Mr J. Hutton reported as follows for the period ending December 4th. The Evening School section has now closed. During the year classes were held in Practical Mathematics, Mechanical Drawing. Plumbing Theory and Practice, Shorthand and i'ype-w rit.ing, Borok-keeping, Dressmaking, Invalid Cookery and Junior English and Arithmetic. There was a decided falling off in. the attendances at. Evening Classes iu all sections except the Commercial Section. There .were also two classes, for Hospital Nurses in Invalid Cookery during the year, which were regularly attended. Recently the Public Service Commissioner’s Examination for Shorthand Typistes were held and the following evening School pupils were successful: Senior Grade. —Mabel Stewart; Junior Grade.—Melba Robinson. The following pupils of the Technical High School were also successful:—Mary Johnston, Kathleen Mintrom, Dorothy Greenhill, Enid Peters, Clarice Martin, Dolly Minichin and Mary Bell. There is in the Engineering Workshop a

10 h.p. Tangye Gas Engine which has been replaced by an electric motor, This we have vainly tried to sell. There is also a steam engine which is of no use .to us I would suggest that both of,these be offered for sale as scrap, removal to be affected by the purchaser. The space where the steam engine was could easily be fitted to accommodate an old motor car chassis which would be a useful purchase in the future for instructional work. The school closes on December 11th on which day I suggest that the Prize giving ceremony be held in fhe afternoon. In the evening a breaking-up entertainment is being arranged by Mrs A. C. Dickson and Mr J. Patterson The report was adopted.
