OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT AND TUESDAY. “HIGH SOCIETY BLUES”—GRAND MUSICAL ROMANCE. Miss Louise Fazenda is prominently cast in “High Society Blues,” Fox Movietone musical romance, co-featur-ing Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, recalled the incident during the making of this production, to be screened to-night and Tuesday. Ford Sterling, head of the studio for which Miss Fazenda was working, touched by her woe-begone expression at the prospect of losing a day’s salary as an extra, Sterling gave her a small part in the picture. When he went back to Mack Sennett’s Studio he took her with him. Miss Fazenda was born in Lafayette, Indiana, but lived in Los Angeles since babyhood. After meeting Ford Sterling, her fortunes changed, her first serious role being in 11 Quincy Adams Sawyer.” with Barbara La Marr, followed by “Main Street,” with Monte Blue and the silent version of “Gold Diggers of Broadway.” Some of her more important roles have been in “Cradle Snatchers,” “The Bat,” 1 i The Terror, ” “ The Red Mill, ’ ’ “Ladies at Play,” “On With the Show,” “Loose Ankles,” “No, No, Nanette,” “Desert Song,” and “Spring is Here.” Others in the cast of “High Society Blues” include William Collier senr., Joyce Compton, Hedda Hopper, Lucien Littlefield, Brandon Hurst and Gregory Gave. David Butler, well remembered for his production of “Sunny Side Up,” directed. Music was provided by Joseph McCarthy and James F. Hanley. BLACKBALL TO-NIGHT. “The Border Legion” will be screened at Blackball to-night. GREY MAIN SCHOOL RECITAL. On November 17th, Miss Adria Bush and her pupil s are staging a Recital, in afid. of the GreyMain School A good deal of work has been put into the preparation of a most unusnal programme, and it will be different from anything that has been previously staged here. There wtSfl be a varied programme, practically all costume items, Chinese Eskimo and other types, costume dno logues, plays, and by courtesyof MisDorothy Th waites, several pretty ballets and solos. Miss Bush herself will give a costume recital from Dickens withj full stage effects, and a co 8" tume duologue from Shakespeare, assisted by Mr J. Stopforth of Hokitika.
