(Par Press Association). PAHIATUA, August 10. A car overturned at Hahina yesterday afternoon, and some amateur boxers, returning from Wellington, were injured. Joe Franklin, featherwe’ght champion of Poverty Bay. had his loft ’eg broken. Fred Bennie, light-weight champion. Hawke’s Bay, had a severe cut on the knee. Bath were admitted to ‘he hospital. Other occupants, who escaped injury, were Mrs J. R. Gregory (Whatatntu), owner of the car; Mrs J. Heeney (Gisborne), Messrs J. Heeney and RegGregbry. Franklin was the driver, and was forced -on some shingle, endeavouring to avoid a collision with another car. and the yeh ; cle overurned. WELLINGTON. August 10. Harold Francis Walker, farmer, of Wainui-o-Mata, had a miraculous escape when a motor lorry he was driving, crashed over a 200~feet bank. Walker was driving up Wainui Road, wHen the vehicle skidded-off the road, toppling over the bank Walker, who was thrown out before it reached the bottom, where the lorry was smashed to atoms, escaped with a sprained ankle. Humphrey on May 16, and to negligently driving. causing death. Alfred Richard Amey, motor foreman, 43. was fined £25 to-day, ’ for intoxication, whilst in charge of a car, and his license was endorsed. Counsel for Apjey said that he had been sales manager for dominion Motors for seven years. AUCKLAND, August 10. A Kaitaia widow, whose husband was the victim of a motor collision between two motor cycles near Maiingatapere, on December 16, brought a big claim for £3500 in the Supreme Court, before a jury of a dozen, to-day.
