BABY MURDER

Auckland Discovery (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, August 10. The body of a newly-born male child was found in a- -Vacant section in Freeman’s Bay to-day. The body was wrapped in a cloth, over which paper was placed. A post mortem examination showed that the child’s death was due to strangulation. MOTHER ACCUSED. ABANDONMENT OF HER BABY. CHRISTCHURCH, August 10. Viole- Beatrice Moore, 29, domestic, married, living apart from her husband, pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial, on a charge of unlawfully abandoning an infant, which was found 1 alive in a non-tenanted house ten days ago. The police said it was hoped that the child would live. The police also said that accused made a statement that the baby was born in the house. She intended to go buck later to get it, but became frightened and did not.
