THE BIG QUAKE
In New Guinea
LASTED 40 SECONDS. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received August 10 at 9.15 p.m.) CANBERRA, August 10. The Administrator of New Guinea has 'notified the Prime Minister, Mr J. H. Scullin, by radio, that a severe earthquake occurred at Aitape at midday on Friday, lasting for 40 seconds. The foundations of six bungalows were damaged. There ■were no casualties.
