BAND CONTEST
NEXT FEBRUARY I At Wellington (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, June 12. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Band Contest Committee, the President, Mr IL D. Bennett, in his report, stated the abandoned contest would be held in Wellington in February neixt. Mr Bennett announced that arrangements for the single control of New Zealand bands had been finalised, and the cfd Noifth Island and South Bland Associations had been dissolved in favour of a single body with its headquarters in Wellington.
Mr J. J. Kelly, of New South Wales was appointed adjudicator for the contest with Mr A. fiehnatck assistant.
The programme provides for cash prizes amounting to £307 for the A. Grade tesL% and £179 for the B. Grade, with £75 for the quickstep competition. There will also be an “own choice” hymn contest, open i© Doth grades.
A departure will be made from the usual custom in that the contest will commence with the big marches on the Saturday, instead o-f that event being staged on the last day.
