The 2YA weekly “Musical Portrait” will this evening be of Mendelssohn, ajid it will be painted by the Ellwood-String OqteL This a number of outstanding excclletnce at the Sy-nwinsi—Ellwood-Short recital at the Town Hall recently. Mr George Eilwood, ‘cellist, will himself give" a short recital 'Oif popular numbers, including [Popper’s fascinating “Gavotte” and “La Fileusje” by Dunklcfr. Mr Arthur Clajrk (tenor), will sing three ' delightful songs composed by himself, and! also several songs by Roger Quilter. Mr Rex Harrison, too well and favourably known to listeners to need any introducing, will give a recital. Tine Orche'Htrina will plan tuneful numbers of Sibelius, Dvorak and Schu tert. -’»■
Two marches, Raff’s “Cavatina,” “The> Glow Worm Idyll.’’ a grand fantasia, “Home Sweet Home,’ the World Over,” a waltz, a foxtrot, and a characteristic/ piece, “ Th e Uhlans’ Ball,” will indicate the variety in the programme to be broadcast from 3YA by Derry’s Military Baud. There 1 will also be much variety in the vocal r-ipgriamme, the contributing artists being Mi.-is Eveline Hill, Miss Nellie Bilciiffe, Mr Sydney Armstrong and Mr W. J. Richards.
The speaker during the weekly International programme at 4YA will be M r D. 11. Skinner, Lecturer in Ethnology at Otago University. His suojcct will be: “The Polynesian Rae: in its International Relation.”
