Mr Gteo. C. C. Black, M.P., for Motueka, questioned on Saturday by an “Argus” (reporter, said he had read a statement recently published, that on account of his attitude on the Midland Railway and his peflicy generally, he. hod being requested to contest the Nelson seat, against the sitting member, Hon. 11. Atmore, Minister of Education. It. was correct that Le had been asked to stand for Nelson. “It is, however, my intention, said Mr Black,” to stand again flor the Mo.tueka constituency, as a. u Independent candidate. Any request from an outside electiorate i s to be regarded only as aj compliment to those who sent me to Parliament, and as long as, I am member flcir Motueka, I shall continue to do all that I possibly can for my district, as well as for the Dominion, as a whole, and to that end 1 shall continue to advocate the needs •4 the Nelson province! generally.’’
