HECTOR EROSION. Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., has received the following letter from the Minister of Marine (8/12/30): “I have to acknowledge receipt of your further Jetton of the 20th ultimo, with reference to the erosion which is taking place at Hector. ] understand that a request lias been made to the Harbour Engineer for old .rails to enable some temporary protection to be made with the aid of manuka fascines but in regard to this I have to advise you that all the old rails which we have are in demand for the work a t present going ou at Westport barhour. ’ ’
