A statement made by Edward Martin during the hearing of an affiliation order case, that he was married in October, the statement being repeat- ' ed in cross-examination, led to his appearance 1 to-day on a charge of perjury. Sergeant Pender gave evidence as to interviewing accused. Accused iadmitted that he was not married, but had been living since October, with a woman as man and wife, and he regarded this as marriage. Hunt) for stealing 100 gallon of petrol valued at £lO. The police stated that the youth ha been employed as a garage mechanic The proprietor noticed a shortage o petrol in his tanks and complains, that 2000 gallons had been lost las year.
