Nothing is being said about rhe Irapuni breakdown by' the Minister of Public Works (Mr Taverner) until the report of Professor Hornell, the Swedish expert, lias been received bv the Government. The Minister explained that his visit to Arapuni at the week-end was made purely as the result of arrangement with Professor Hornell that he should visit Arapuni and discuss various points with the Professor, “on the spot.” The Minister made it dear that ho could anticipate the report the Professor would later make. Mr Taverner was also unable to say when the expert’s report would bo submitted, although he bad indicated it would be. preferable to have the report before the session of Parliament ended. Mr Page, S.M.. in a reserved judgment upheld its action in refusing to grant Gilbert Hamilton Mi'Mccking. a nearby farmer, a renewal of a license, to vend milk in the city. The Magistrate said that having regard for the past record of the applicant, ho was nf rhe opinion that the Council acted rightly in the refusal of the Council to grant McMeeking a license. That did not mean ho would have no market for his milk. He could sell the whole of his milk to tio l Wellington Dairy Farmers Co-Operative Association, a body from which subsequently the whole of the city corporation milk supply was drawn. The body of John Joseph O’Brien, aged fifty, farmer, of Matatoki, was found in bed this morning. There was a shot-gun beside him. He had been mentally depressed. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
