OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. “ON WITH THF SHOW. A pageant of colour lornis the magnificent setting for the delight lui comedy, tuneful melody, ami attractive 'lancing which make up the Warner Bros, film “On With the Show,-’ whii li will be screened for the first time to-night. The production is something new in sound pictures, and the wide variety of its features must make a type of entertainment that can be relied iq>on to please all tastes. It abounds in those lilting, catchy songhits which audiences like to take away home with them io whistle in their bath, at the street corner, or, in fact, everywhere. Tho principals are practically all tho possessors of good voices and the recording of the singing has been excellently carried out. The ballot work of the very eonijietent dancing girls will be a delight and the background of colour against which they move greatly enhances the appeal of their performance. “On With I rhe Show’’ presents on the screen a i full-length musical comedy of an exceedingly diverting kind. It has been fashioned to give the audience the im pression that it is sitting in a theatre I watching and listening to tho best type l of musical drama that even the legitimate stage could present. The effect l of reality is really startling. The story shows the try-out performance of I a musical comedy being got ready for 1 its Broadway opening, with all the 1 happenings out front, on the stage, and i backstage, which tend to make the producers of musical comedy prematurely grey-headed. It is entirely filmed in natural colour phohography, and is a gorgeous treat for the eye, as well as for the ear. The all-star cast includes Betty Compson, Arthur Lake, Sally O’Neill, Louise Fazenda, Joe E. Brown, Fairbanks Twins, Lee Moran, Sam ./Hardy and many others, and a singing land dancing chorus of 100. “On i With the Show” will be presented for four nights and matinee Wednesday. The Box Plan is at the Bristol.
