IKAMATUA CONCERT

I The Iknmatna Hall was packed on Wednesday night, when a conceit was given to raise funds to repair damage | done, to the Catholic Church buildings at Reefton by the earthquake. The , gathering included visitors from as 'far south as Greymouth, and many from Ahaura, Waiuta and Reefton. A well varied programme was very mucli enjoyed bv the audience, who showed their appreciation by giving every performer an encore. The singers, 1 both the Greymouth performers and ' local talent, were of a. high class order, | while humorous recitations rendered -bv Miss Bush and Mrs Coles caused punch merriment with both young ami old. Miss Vera Cooper gave a very good exhibition of dancing, her performances evoking very favourable comments, while violin solos given by I Misses Keating and Clayton, showed that both performers had great command over their instruments. The Waiuta Troupe, with an entirely new performance, was an entertainment, in itself, Mr Green’s song in Maori es'pecially being much appreciated, while ! the accompanists very ably assisted the performers. During the evening, the chairman, Mr G. M. Mcfnroe, thanked the audience, for their patron1 age. the Rev. Father Ginesty for organising the concert, congratulating him on supplying such a varied and highly entertaining programme. He also congratulated the performers on 11 he splendid entertainment given by them. The programme was as follows: Overture, ‘Miss B. MeSherry; song, ‘‘Sing Joyous Bird,” Miss N. Barrettr*dance, Irish Jig, Miss Vera .Cooper; song. “Youth and Spring,” (Miss E Dale; violin solo, “Fiddle and I,” Miss C. Keating; song and chorus, “Home, Little Maori, Home,” Miss |J. Cameron, Mr J. Green and chorus; character song, “Song of the Nile.” . Miss A. McEwin; recitation, “The Bridal Morn,’’ Miss A. Bush; naval sketch. “All Hands on Deck.” Mr AV. J. Staples and Waiuta Troupe; violin solo, ‘‘Seronde Romance,” Miss Ida Clayton; song. Miss N. Barrett; reci tat ion, “The Vicar’s Presentation, Afiss A. Bush; dance. Sailor’s Horn I pipe. Miss V. Cooper; song. Miss Leg goo; violin solo. “Hungarian Dance,’' .Miss C. Keating; song. “The Desert | Song. ” Miss A. McEwin; recitation. , “ Musicians and How They Musich, ’’ Mrs Coles; song. Miss E. Dale; High- ' land Dance, Afiss V. Cooper; song and chorus, Honolulu Scene by a Retiring Officer of the Navy.” Air J. Green ami Chorus; God Save the King. The hall was then cleared and dancing was indulged in.
