Won by half a, length. Time 1.48. RACING. Desert Song, the three-year-old gelding by Hunting Song—Trebelle, has been taken up again by T. Lloyd. He has grown a lot while spelling. Pangolin, who went to pieces at the . Dunedin meeting n February, is in work again and is beginning to build up the muscle he lost while spelling. Rapier is quite sound and is still nt Riccarton, but he has finished racing. He will remain with H. Nurse until he is let right down. Then he will go to his owner’s place out Halswell way. Amor, who was sent across to Sydned in A. AlcAulay’s charge with the idea that he might sell well, has been disposed of. Though not a really good class galloper, Amor is more than useI ful and, if not flown at 100 high game, i his Australian owner should not have any reason to regret his purchase. The name of Amor’s now owner is not known yet. The Absurd gelding, Radiac, staged a good come-back at Riverton, and was one of the best performances over country seen out at the meeting. Since being purchased by Mr J. Conn last August, his damaged fore legs have healed up in wonderful manner, and, so far, he has not shown a sign of soreness. F. D. Jones will make his usual spring trip to Randwick if Limerick goes On in the very satisfactory manner that he is doing at present; but, without Limerick, hp is not likely to go. Spoon is still with G. Murray Aynsley and to stop there unless someone
from Australia steps along and buys her. She lightened up a little with her two races, but she looks just right and is ready to race at any rime. It is reported that several Australian owners are after this filly. Malm-’ey was very sore after the meeting at Riecarton, and it was found necessary to give her a let up until the tracks get softer. Iloylake, who developed a leg on the eve of tbo Easter meetings, is spelling. It, is very doubtful if he will race again this season, or ever. His people do not like him in softgoing, so they are not likely to race him through the winter, and present intentions arc to put him at the service of breeders next spring. Lancer is still on the absentee list. Up is quite sound; but his trainer, H. Nurse, who tobk a team of horses across to the West Coast meetings, decided to let the gelding have a holiday until he came back. F. D. Jones cannot make up his mind whether to race First Sight for the rest of the season or to ease him up for a few weeks and then get him going so as to have him ready for a trip to Sydney in the spring, if the stable makes one. In the meantime, the Gay Lad gelding is being kept at half-pace work. He is very gay, and it is evident that the two hard raves he had at Riecarton have done him a lot. of good. Before the sale of Mr C. J. Dalgety’s horses. Footfall was doing no more than be hacked about. Since lie became G. Murray Aynsley’s property for 70gns. he is a regular attendant on the track and he is doing a lot of solid pace work. The old fellow is very gay and is rolling into his work in a satisfactory way. A good class gelding it is only a matter ot his keeping sound, and he "'HI soon return his purchase money. Red Heckle is to be seen being excrci I'd everv day, but he is not doing anything on the tracks. He lightened up a lot with the two races he had nn.l it looks as if he will never thrive on lacing. He may col race again thi« season, but that will depend upon how he does. Should he show signs of coming right internally, it is hardly likely that he will bo allowed to eat the oats of idleness. T. H. Gillett had intended racing Hounslow at Amberley if wo had been blessed with some rain immediately after the C.J.C. meeting. As it did not come, Gillett decided to ease the Thurnham gelding, and wait with him for the Dunedin J.C. winter meeting in Juno—a fixture at which the track is always soft.. 'Phis gelding’s feet trouble him. TWO THOUSAND GUINEAS. LONDON, May 7. The Two Thou and . Guineas Stakes (Nowma rk ot) resulted: — Diolito 1 Paradino Silver Flare Twenty-eight started. Won by two lengths, with a length between second and third.
