GREYMOUTH CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. The result of the competitions of the Greymouth Tennis Club is that the singles championships have been wo i by Miss N. Tennent (la°t year’s ladies’ champion) and Mr M. C. Smith, a promising young player. The game* played resulted as follows: — Men’s singles:—First round: W. P. McCarthy beat E. S. Lorking 6/2, u/8, 6/2, J. Mcßrearty beat H. Haigh G/0, 4/6, 6/3, J. Mepham beat J. C. Gilbert by default, A. K. Smith beat D. Stevenson by default. F. M. Dennehy beat Rev J. Quinn by default, K. U. Stephens beat J. Riordan by default, G. F.. Shall crass beat Dr H. S. Smi.h beat Shallcrass by default. Semi-finals: A. K. Smith beat Mcßrearty 6/2 8/6, M. C. Smith beat Dennehy 6/2 4/ 6/3. Final: M. C. Smith bear A. K. Smith 6/2 6/3.
