Mrs B. Franks, of Kotuku, enters he Hospital to-day for treatment. Mrs A. B. Larsen left yesterday ino.ning on a visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs P. O’Neill, Puketahi Street, left yesterday for Christchurch. Mrs W. F. G. Pullen, of Wellington, is visiting Cobden, being the guest of Miss Stone. Mr -and Mrs p. Pope, Ruru. leave by this morning’s express on a visit to Frank an Junction. Mr and Mrs Charles Rhodes and Miss Rhodes (Auckland) are visitors to the Franz Jcsef Glacier. Mr E. J. Kiely (Bevington’s Hotel), who has been patient at the Grey Hospi al, was discharged on Sunday. Mr and Mrs W. Aitken (Cass), are visiting Poeruu, being the guests of Mr ami Mrs T. O’Connor. Mr J. Callam will travel by this morning’s express on a visit to Christchurch. Mt A. Sydes-Johnston arrived on Saturday from Christchurch, and has taken up his duties on the Grey School staff. Vice-Admiral A. G. Hotham, who was Commander of the New Zealand Naval Station in 1920-23, has retired (states a London cablegram). Mr F. McKay, of the local branen of the Bank of New Zealand, on Saturday last at Hokitika had the misfortune to sprain his ankle. Mr W. H. Parfitt has accepted the position of Government representative on the Greyniouth Fire Board, in succession to Mr J. Steer, who resigned recently. The Moana youth, Richard Boddy, wno was seriously injured a few months ago in a shooting accident, is now well on the way to complete recovery. M. W. Barnett, of the N.Z. Government Tourist Publicity Office. Sydney, is at present on a visit to the Franz Josef Glacier. He will also visit Punakaiki this week. The marriage takes place on Saturday week next at Holy Trinity Church of Mr Neil H. Ames, of the Customs Department, and Miss Mane Parfitt, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Parfitt, of Grey mouth. The Mayor (Mr J. W. Greenslade) and Mr F. H. Denton (Town Clerk) left yes' erday morning to attend the Municipal Conference at Wanganui. Mr Denton will also attend the Town Clerks’ Institute Conference. The Mayor was accompanied by Mrs Greenslade. Visitors staying at the Albion Hotel include: —Mr and Mrs Battersby, Mrs and Miss Russell, Mrs Osborn. Mrs Hagerdom (Westport), Mr C. K. A AVe’lington wire states that after granting certain legacies the late Sir Charles Skerrett as a first provision of his will, directed his trustees to set aside one tenth of the net balance of his estate for the purpose of paying the income from such a sun to educational charities in New Zealand to be from time to time determined by his trustees under certain directions expressed in the will. The will also bequeaths the sum of £5OO to the authorities of St. Patrick’s College to be used by them to keep up the educational annuities granted by Sir Charles Skerlett in the institution. The estate has for temporary purposes been sworn under £BO,OOO.
