THE LEAGUE GAME.
MONSTER PICNIC TO MAWHERAITI. The President of the West Coas* Rugby League (Mr J. D. Wingham) will leave this morning on a visit to the proposed site at Mawheraiti, where th c League intend holding their monster picnic next Sunday. He will be accompanied by two members of the Committee., and thc purpose of their vidt will be to finalise arrangements for the setting out of the grounds for the picnic, and to make certain that such provision as will be necessary for assuring the public of the best of attention during the outing is made. Th tickets now on sale, a~id procurable from the various Carnival Committees, are being rapidly sold, and present in dicat icjiiis- point to something like a record crowd making the holiday trip. The position of the Carnival Queens has undergone a further change during the past week, and although Grey s'ill hold pride of place. Marist have made a good forward move, and only a small margin separates them from the leaders. The Centre Queen is a good third, closely followed by Runanga and the Combined Queens.
