A GAME VETERAN.

TO CROSS COOK STRAIT IN CANOE WELLINGTON, February 12. Following hard upon Miss Coppiestone’s failure to swim Cook Strait, it is announced that Charles Barwell, aged 65, intends, lin lhe immediate future, to essay a crossing in a collapsible canvas canoe, measuring seven feet by three feet two inches. He intends to make the journey alone, although—as he himself says—if he is caught in a storm, his chances of swimming will be small.
