Mr John Sullivan underwent an operation at the Hospital on Saturday, following an accident with which he met while engaged in painting the verandah of the Imperial Hotel. With Mr William Brown he was standing on a plank, the trestles supporting which -lippel. and they fell to the footpath, Sullivan sustaining painful face in juries and being rendered unconscious. He is now progressing favourably. The death occurred yesterday of Mr John Teasdale, an old and respected resident of the Brunner district, at the Grey River Hospital. The deceased, who was a native of County Durham. England, was ?6 years of age. He had resided in Brunner district for over 40 year*, and for many years acted as carpenter at the mines. He leaves a family of three daughters and three sons, the former being Mesdames Millar (Cobden). Thomson (Dobson), and Jelfs (Auckland), while the sons are John (Ikamatuab Joseph (Masterton), and Leslie (Cobden). The funeral fakes place at Stillwater. Air R. R. w right has been advised of his promotion to the position of < lerk of the Court at Whakatane from that of Assistant Clerk of the Court Greymouth, which he has held for ■ 1 * l taree 'ears past.
