Donation's to the shilling fund are still being handed in, and indications point to th. functions being most successful. Six of the Blackball unemployed are benefiting by Sir J Ward’s Christmas relief work, and have been found jobs on day wages on th 8.8, track. It is stated that a large number of ratepayers are ineligible to vote, owing | to their rates not being paid up. It is reported that the year’s work j at the Blackball School has shown a decided improvement over that of the i previous year. This is a credit to the teaching staff and tho Committee, who. now that a change of Government has taken place, should hammer away for new and up to date school buildings. A meeting of the West Coast Miners’ Council is being hold at Westport to-uay. and some important business will bp dealt with.
