BOXING.

SECOND BOYS’ TOURNAMENT. The Boys’ Boxing Tournament held i ihc down Hall recently attained such a degree of popularity with the general public, that it is the desire of many who attended the tournament to again be given the opportunity of witnessing another such display. After ’•Ung approached with numerous requests for a second boys’ tournament the Greymouth Boxing Association have decided to run one on December 29th. A similar programme has been arranged to that previously carried out, with an additional 4 baby-weight,* open to the tiny lads under 4 st 7 lb. Altogether, nine classes are included in the programme., which has already been published, and climbs from babyweight to welter-weight. There is an age limit, which restricts lads from entering who are over the age of 18 years by 22nd inst. Every possible attention will be giv•l to t'.ie boys, and parent: may rest assured that, as was the ease at th? previous tournament, tne Association’s officers will allow no lad to receive anything approaching undue punishment. The various classes will be divided, so that the bouts will be as evenly contested in possible, and the weights about the same. Age will als-, be a determining factor in the grading >f the classes., and a light boy who Ims too great an advantage resulting from his age. may be required to boi in the next higher weight. It is safe to predict a successful tournament, and the Secretary (Mr it. IV. Baillie) has already bandied many nominations from the keen young pugilists. La ls intending to nominate are advi ed to do so early, and in any case are not to forget that Monday December 24th, is the last day 01 Which they will be allowed to enter. Since the last tourney, the big ma jority of the boys have been keeping to their training, and the night of December 29th will find them eager and ready to give of their best to the crowded house which is sure to greet -. hem.
