VARICOSE VEINS.
NEW TREATMENT. LONDON, December 7. Though a delicate operation, necessitating confinement of the injected solution to an interior vein, a uew treatment for varicose veins by local injection, is asserted by the * ‘Daily Mail’s” medical writer to afford a complete cure except in the most advanced cases. He points out that it supersedes thH old method 'of tying the veins. A solution of quinine, or salicylate °f soda is injected by an ordinary hypodermic glass syringe. This irritates the lining of the vein, clots of blood effectually blocking the vessel. A single injection is usually sufficient and a general anaesthetic is unnecessary. , i The treatment is available at ronst Londo/n hospitals and is «o popular that it necessitated several special clinics.
