DOUBLE STAR—“THE CRYSTAL CUP” AND “THE NIGHT PATROL.” A daring drama, unusual m th; me and treatment, skilfully directed ami superbly acted, “The Crystal Cup,” First National’s pieturization of Gertrude Atherton’s novel, which screens at the Opera House tonight (Wednesday). “TH Crystal Cup” goes into the intricate and intriguing matter of psycho-analysis and the interesting dijseoveries of Freud. It r?flects the turbulent soul of a sensitive woman, oppressed by an unhappy experience’ of early youth, which affects t.er conduct and outlook on life for years. It affords Dorothy Mackaill featured in the feminine part, her greatest screen role,, a role in which the actress acquits herself so creditably as to place her in the first rank of motion picture artists. Jack Mulhall brings his likeable and distinct histrionic ability in the- sririous role of “Geoffrey”. Rockliffe Fcllo.wcs’ interpretation of the brilliant, successful novelist, is finely-drawn and Jane Winton, Edythc Chapman, Clarissa Selwynnje! are> excellent in supporting roles. “THE NIGHT PATROL.” A sterling all-star cast appears in support of Richard Talmadgc, the agile F. 8.0. star in his latest comedy melodrama “The Night Patrol,” which also screens at thte Opera House tonight. Besides the star himself the cast includes such popular favourites as Gladys Hulette, Mary Carr, Charles Clary, Grace Darinoaid and others. “The Night Patrol” is a rushing and roaring combination of vivid melodrama and booming comedy with the dashing Talmadgc introducing several new s'taunts hitherto unrevealed on the screen.
