DRUIDISM.
STAR OF THE WEST LODGE. Over seventy members of the above and neighbouring lodges attended the Druids Lodge Room last evening for the ceremony of installing of officers of the Greymouth Lodge. Arch Druid Bro. G. Patterson presided. The usual routine business, which included the payment of £23 8/8 to sick brethren, and the ballot for three members, having been transacted, District President Bro. J. J. Williams installed the newly elected officers. They were: A.D. Bro. W. Hall; V.A. Bro. R. Tennent; Sec. P.G.P. Bro. J. Tennent; Treas., P.A. Bro. R. A. Barrowman; LG. Bro. Ivor Steel; A.D.B.’s Bros. A. Grubb and J. McMaster; V.A.B.’s Bros. E. V. Ellery and P. B. Rathbun; O.G. Bro. D. Yorwarth; M.C. P.A. Bro. J. Condon; M.S. P.A. Bro. IT. Herring; Pianist, Bro. E. Yater; Grand Lodge Delegate, P.A. Bro. J. Booth; Lodge Auditor, P.D.P. Bro. J. Saunders; District President for No. 13 District, P.A. Bro. R. A. Bnrrowman. At the conclusion of his address, D.r. Bro. Williams was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks, when he tendered his best wishes for the Lodge’s continued success.
A presentation of a framed diploma and Past Arch Collar, was then made to the retiring Junior Arch, Bro. Yorwarth, who duly thanked the Lodge for its valued gift. The nomination of three candidates concluded the business, and the Lodge members retired to the social room, when a pleasant time was spent, in toast and song. T;he proceedings opened with the toast of “The King,” feeling reference being made by A.D. Bro. Hall to His Majesty’s condition. Other toasts “Grand Lodge,” proposed by i Bro. J. Booth, responded to by P.< . Bro. J. Tennent and D.P. Bro. J. Williams; “Officers elect of Star of the West Lodge,” proposed by P.D.P. Bro. J. Fox, Responded to by the newly elected officers; “Our District President,” proposed by P.A. Bro. 11. Herring and responded by Bro. Williams; “Visitors,” by P.D.P. Bro. Ed. Ashton, coupled with visitors from Hawcra, Palmerston, Hokitika, Runanga, and Brunner; “District President for 1929,” proposed by P.D.P. Bro. F. Boustridge, responded by P.A. Bro. Barrowman.
Musical items were given by Bros. McDonald, 11. Herring, Condon, Les. Patterson, Yates, J. Conning. Before dispersing, Arch Druid Bro. Hall extended this season’s greetings to the brethren, and proceedings concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
