No fewer than forty-nine charges wer e pfl.'ferred’ against one boy aged thirteen, who was placed under the care of the chief welfare superintendent. A boy ot fourteen who admitted thirty three

charges of theft, was similarly dealt with. A boy of fifteen who pleadedguilty ■'to 22 thefts and conversion charges, was sent to the Borstal Institute for thrd- years. Two other boys wefe sentenced to similar terms.
