In Empire Relations. BRITISH COMMISSIONER IN CANADA. (Reed. Nov. 5 at 7.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, Nov. I. Sir William Clark, British High (lommtsßioncr to Canada, was officially welcomed to Canada on Saturday night at a Government dinner. Speaking of the importance of Sir W. Clark’s appointment, the Premier, Mr McKenzie King, said that it was bv far the most, important step yet taken to further effective consultation and co-operation between the governments of Great Britain and of Canada, with resultant benefits to both, and, what was even more important, to the unity of the Empire as a whole. G was th'i most effective means tnus far devised of securing the Crown against involvement in any possible controversy which may ever arise between the different governments oi wlii.-h His Majesty is the head. He added: ''lf closer relations of the. Gov ernments of the Empire and the maintenance of unity through the secut itv of the Crown is what we all desire, may we not truly say that there they will find surest, as well as the latest development.”
