ANOTHER MYSTERY.
Woman Murderously Attacked. (Received November 4 at 5.5 p in.) SYDNEY, November 4. Mrs Gwendoline {Smith, aged twentytw<j years, was found .in her flat at Darlinghurst last night with her head battered, and her state one of unconsciousness. She was taken to the hospital where her condition is now critiA mystery surrounds the affair. Iler husband says that they had been shopping, and his wife returned home before him. When he arrived home, he saw a strange man, with a bloody face, who, in reply to an interrogation, said that he had made a mistake. The husband then went to his wife’s room, and he saw her lying unconscious. He rushed Io the front, where the stranger still lingered, ami asked hint: “What have you done?” The stranger replied: ‘‘lt must have been the other fellow,” thus inferring that another man had been in the liar. The stranger then jumped through the window and disappeared. The Rockdale Murders. FIFTH VICTIM DIES. SYDNEY, November 4. The death occurred last night of Joseph Palmer. This makes the death roll of the victims of the Rockdale tiagedy five, and closes the avenue to a possible elucidate.i of how it was ‘"A"-
