AT 'VARSITY EXAMS. Wrong Papers Given Out. AUCKLAND, November 2. The students here Bitting for th Second Stage in Histoiy at the Degree and Diploma examinations of the New Zealand Univ. r-ity were issu'd with the wrong papers at Auckland today, being given Paper B (which wan to nave been taken next Monday), instewd of Paper A. The nii.'taki was discovered by the s'udents shortly after they had. taken their seats, and protests were made to the supervisors. The. wrapp <rs in uhich the papers were received were found to be label! -d paper A. After deliberation, it was decided that Hie; candidates, having seen tk-n papers would have to work upon th mAt tlie conclusion of the three hours' period prescribed for the examination, all o;f the papers containing th- <]u stions'were collected, and. the candidates were not allowed to take them from th i room. The mistake has been reported t‘«» the Registrar of the University *n Wellington, but no decision I:4s yet be n made as io whether thq examination in. this paper will be held as valid. CHRISTCHURCH, November 2. A serious mistake was made in tjie conduct of thp University Degree examinations on Thursday. Students who should have sat for the History IL Paper (A) were given the History Il Paper (B). a question for which they are scheduled to sit next week. They had worked on Paper B for about, fifteen minutes before the mistake was • liscovered. The paper was then removed and wn replaced by the correct ■ one. This is a serious matter, seeing that the students know the contents of next week’s imper several days before the examination. It is not yet known what action will be taken in the matter.
