RUGBY ACTION DEPRECATED.
From the fact that Wairarapa, while having a specially selected team to Christchurch recently, fulfilled its other contest the Ranfurlv Shield match at obligations in thp. South Island with a depleted team, the Otago Rugby Union holds that the wrong policy has been adopted. In deprecating such a policy the union suggested that matches other than those tor the shield were consider ed comparaively unimportant, and the question was raised as to whether it would be worth while making anv future fixtures with unions adopting the practice. A motion conveying these opinions was placed before the New Zea Lind Rugby I nion’s Alanagement Committee last evening, and it was decided to pass it on to the Wairarapa Rugby Union for that body’s comment.
