N.Z. Championships. AUCKLAND, August 23. The N.Z. Amateur Boxing ChamI ionships opened to-night. The following ar - the referees and judges for the tournament:—Referees: J. Kilmartin (Dunedin) and P. Neale. (Auckland). Judges: G. Bush (Auckland), J. E. Staples (Wellington), A. Beban (Greymouth). and A. Smith (Oamaru). The eliminating bouts of the New Zealand Amateur Boxing Championships were held to-night, the results being as follows: — BANTAM-WEIGHT. C. Hurn e (Wellington) beat P. Ila we, 3 ( Westport). Davis (Auckland) beat R. Hutchinson (Napier). L. Knhckcy (Hawke’s Bay) bear J. Craik* (Otago). FEATHER-WEIGHT A. Seastrand (Hawke’s Bay) be.it D. Richardson (Greymouth). T. Donovan (Taranaki) beat Thomas (Wellington). L. Terry (Ashburton) beat C. Alanson (Te Aroha). P. Roderick (Gisborne) boat R. Wright (Christchurch). G. Leslie (Auckland) beat A. Seastrand (Hawke’s Bay). T. Donovan (Tarankai) beat T. W. Webber (Otago). LIGHT-WEIGHT. R. Fulaher (Otago) beat A. Argyle (North Otago). E. Probert (Hawke’s Bay) beat T. E. Papps (Wellington). C. Wright (Greymouth) beat A. Karim (Taranaki). E. Probert (Hawke’s Bay) heat C. Wright (Greymouth). Fulcher (Otago) beat Duggan (Greymouth) A. Jones (Auckland) beat Baird (Christchurch), C. McKnight (Frankton) beat A. Karton (Wanganui). The bouts concluded just before mid-night. There will be further eliminating rounds and the semi-fin a'3 tomorrow night. MIDDLE-WEIGHT. C. Waite (Wellington) knocked out W. Pit a her (Auckland). L. Turner (Ala riborough) beat Thompson (Christchurch). R. Nichol (Southland) beat C. Norton (North Otago). H. Davis (Otago) beat H. Scown (Patea).

Tunney Visits London.
LONDON, August 22. Gene Tunney has arrived in England. He .receiv'd a tumultuous reception which prompted the exclamation: ‘‘Gee. I never thought x woulo l.av” reached this state of importaiHe taxied to .the Savoy Hotel, where he engaged a gorgeous royal suite.
