OPERA HOUSE—MATINEE AND NIGHT. “MAN OF THE FOREST A splendid cast is seen in Paramount’s picturisation of Zane Grey’s “Man of the Forest” which comes to the ; Opera House today, matineo land! might,. Jaqh popular hero of many gripping western stories by the widely-read author, plays the male lead. Georgia Hale has /the i feminine lead opposite Holt. She Went West after having completed a featured role in ‘‘The Great Gatsby”. Other members of the cast include El Brendel, comedian; |Warner Oland, Tom Kennedy, Ivan Christie, BruceGordon and Vester Pegg. The last named is reputed one of the West’s most skilful riders.
“Man of the Forest” deals with the romantic adventures of Holt as a rancher, a lone hand at th c cattle game in the high country. Because of the mystery surrounding him, he is known as the “man of the forest”. Romance enters his life when h e learns Oland h.Gp>es. to gain possession of the ranch of Miss Hale’s unde, his friend and neighbour. Holt kidnaps her when she comes to her uncle death-bed, thwarting Gland’s plan of abduction. Believing Holt her enemy, Miss Hale escapes and has him jailed Oland, who takes possession following her uncle’s death, influences Georgia against Holt, but when she learns that Oland is plotting for the ranch, she denounces him. The plotter’s ruses ai> turned to naught. Thrills, gratitude and love mingle in a thrilling close. “MONS.” “Mons” screens at Reef ton tonight (Wednesday), at Runanga Thursday, Waiuta Saturday and Hokitika Monday. _
