CAR CRASHES INTO POLE. AUCKLAND, January 14. A motor skidded on loose gravel at Papatoetoe, crashing into a telegraph pole. Ralph Fairey, aged 21, of Newmarket, was gravely injured about the head. Ho is now in the hospital in ' a serious condition. His companion escaped with minor J injuries. DAIRY HAND INJURED BY FIRE. WHANGAREI, January 14. As Harold Snell, of Tutukaka, was starting an engine in a milking shed yesterday, it backfired, and the place was soon a mass of flames. Snell, in endeavouring to put out the fire, was badly burned about his legs and hands, and was taken to the hospital here. The shed was a total loss.
