REEFTON, November 28.
Mr C. D. Curtis leaves for Christchurch on a short business visit by to-morrow’s express. At the Fire Brigade demonstration held in Denniston, Reefton fared exceptionally well, running into second place in the five men reel event, and third in the five men wet event, thus showing that they are very keen and r e still on the map. A. strong south-westerly wind sprang
o this morning, blowing very hard. The Secretary of the Reefton Progress League, Mr C. P. Mori, has received a telegram from Mr R. P. Hudson, M.P. for Motueka, stating that _.Lr Amery accepts with pleasure the invitation of the citizens to a banquet on the evening of the 12th inst at Reef ton. We have little doubt that Resftonites will rise to the occasion of the first British Cabinet Minister’s 'sit to Reef ton, an event to be reu uttered.
Tennis.—The following were the scores in the match played at Reefton during the week-end between S: John’s, Westport, aud the local team. The latter were the winners by 224 games and 22 sets to 152 games and 8 sets. Results (the Reefton players are mentioned first in each instance): — Men’s singles: Instone 9, Walker 8.
