CHINESE STRUGGLE.
A SIGNIFICANT ACTION. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received July 8 at 10.10 p.m.) GENEVA, July 8. The Chinese representative has notified the Secretariat of the League of Nations that he is resigning from the League Council, as he has decided to join the Chinese Nationalist Government. The Pekin Government, therefore, has now no representative at Geneva. When Pekin recalled its Diplomats from Europe, Air. Chu went to Geneva, and lie has been representing the Pekin Government at his owu expense. SHANGHAI, July. 7 The struggle for possession of Tsingtao continues. The rebel Genetai Chenehsin was attacked by the Kiaochow garrison, under Commander Chu. The hostilities are 18 miles from Tsingtao. The tide of battle favours the Kiaochow forces. Chang Tso Lin’s forces are reported to have advanced, crossing the Yellow River, compelling a retreat of Fe ig Yu Hsiang, and checking the flank attack in alliance with Chiang Kai Shell driving from the south.
