Criticism of the action of the English League in lifting the ban of two years’ residential qualification on players from Australia and New Zealand, was voiced at a meeting of the Now Zealand League Council to-night. The New South Wales League cabled asking whether the League was in favour of requesting England to make the lifting of the ban non-operative until a conference had been held with the Managers of the English Touring team next season. It was decided to co-co-operate with Australia in the matter, and to express the Council’s disapproval to England direct. The President, Air. C. A. Snedde.n, said subsequently that if English League persisted in its actino ,tho cancelling of the English tour of this Dominion next season, and the secession of the New Zealand League from the English body, would be considered.
