BEE-KEEPERS.
SEEK MORE STATE AID. (Per Press Assn.) WELLINGTON, Juno 14. Representing the National Beekeepers’ Association, Messrs A. Acroy and 11. R. Bates approached the Min ister of Agriculture (Hon. O. J. i ■ ken) to-day with a request that the Government should subsidise eontiibi ■ tions within the industry.' Thev stress ed also the need for the estabhsliment of the new apiary, suggesting Sout.i Canterbury as the site. The Director of General Agriculture (Dr. C. J. . Reales) said the policy oi the Government was to make as many institutions as possible a commerce success. If further hives were established in South Auckland mid the Waikato no honey would be left in the district for good production. “If, he said “we expend public money even on an improvement of this sort, we want a return.” ~ The Minister said it was costing t u Government £4OOO annually to help the beekeepers. The Minister promised -u revise, the Apiaries Act.
