A DOUBTFUL DEFEAT. SYDNEY, February 22. The Lang Government sustained another defeat in the Legislative Council when a Government compromise on the Electoral Amendment Bill to the effect that if the electoral Boundaries Commission did not see fit to grant three more country seats, its findings would not be accepted, was rejected by 34 to 22. The House rose immediately. The Government Income Tax Bill was passed by the Assembly along with the Child Endowment Bill. 44-HOUR WEEK AWARDED. MELBOURNE, February 23. The Federal Arbirtation Court has awarded a forty-four hours week in th: engineering industry.
