MINERS’ ELECTION.
DENNISTON UNION. (Our Own Correspondent). DENNISTON, January 12. Considerable interest was taken in the election of officials to the Denniston Miners’ Union at the pit mouth ballot which was taken on Monday. It resulted as follows: — President: —William Coppersmith (elected) 219; John Mdllwain 211. Secretary:—John Hayes (re-elected) 227; J. B. Simpson 200. Treasurer: —T. Higgins (elected) 279; J. Collinson 151. Executive Members:—From Mechanics’ Branch: W. Richards 233, Frank Nelson 225, V. Smith 208, J.'Warren 169 (the first two elected). Executive Committee: —Tom Whittle 33H. Toni Muir 323, J. Meili wain 294, .lock Longmuir 260, Leo Walsh 196, J. Kinnamount 196, Alex. Coppersmith 195, Lew Davies 182, Mick Berry 133, IL Pugh 90. The first six were elected. (Messrs Whittle, Muir. ALTlhvain, Longmuir, Kinnamount and Walsh). Mr W. Unsworth acted as returning officer.
